Early College Initiative Students Welcomed to College of DuPage 2015 11
Nearly 50 students from West Chicago and Glenbard East high schools are the first participants in the Early College Initiative, a pilot program that began this fall. Starting their junior year, students take one college course each semester and can opt to keep the momentum — and college credits — building with a summer class, earning up to 15 credit hours by the time they finish high school. College of DuPage instructors go to the high school, working directly with the students and teachers to complete five key courses: English, Speech, Psychology, Sociology and Economics.
The recent orientation gave students and their parents a chance to meet with COD faculty, administrators and staff to discuss several key topics, including college resources, college preparedness, course registration, purchasing books and getting a student ID.
