I wish I was here! This image was taken a few years ago when Mark and I drove the country roads through the San Rafael Valley in southern Arizona. We were the only travelers for most of the loop through the valley for about 30 miles and several hours of travel. Of course we had many stops to jump out and try to photograph the amazing scenery in between the intermittent drizzles. By the time we neared the northeast side of the valley, the rain had gone through the mountains to the south and the skies were technicolor beautiful.
This location is at the very bottom, center of Arizona, just 12 miles north of the border of Arizona and Mexico. This area is also a place of great controversy, as mining companies still pursue industrial activity against the arguments with conservationists. It is unknown the status of the court disputes over "developing" this land of the San Rafael Valley. The other controversial issues come to mind from this area as being a place where there is much illegal border-crossing.
