It's funny what Americans think is regional "French" food. It's likewise amusing to see what the French think is regional "American" food.

So, following all the coments and threads to find a place near mine for a good burger, I wound up at Hippopatamus at Bastille (lazy me, I didn't want to go too far). I asked for a bacon cheeseburger (and was willing to pay an additionnal fee) but was told I could have a bacon burger or a cheeseburger but not a combination. So, we got up and left. The manager came (very nice) and explained that people tend to try and take the cheapest menu and substitute everything out. I told her that I told the server that it as fine to pay a little more and was told "we can't make everything to order"... how hard is it to ask for bacon and.or cheese on a burger? We went to the Lounge Bar (across the way) and had great burgers with no fuss. The Lounge Bar's been a reliable favorite for years. You want a good burger (with whatever you may (or may not) want on top,) it's the place to go.
