Shhhhh! It's an embarrassing, personal secret!
I'll take what's behind box number 3, Monty.
These vague personal hygiene ads used to confuse me to no end when I was little. No one would ever mention what the ads were *really* about. For years, I thought Tampax was the maker of all-white sports apparel, because that's what all their ads showed. Women playing tennis, golfing, archery, horseback riding, and swimming, in all white clothes, and never mentioning an actual product.
I think those two little "periods" at the top of the ad are supposed to be a hint. How cute.
This ad for Modess is from the March 27, 1950 issue of Life magazine.
