Amateur Food Porn: Black Bean Brownie
Wheat-free vegan brownies. I was intrigued by using beans as a brownie base, and also by the "put everything in a blender" mixing method.
Tasty, but unless you've got heavy diet restrictions, they're not going to replace the standard ones. Bananas and apple sauce overpower the cocoa powder significantly. If I made these again, I might go down to half a banana and 1/8 c apple sauce.
1 can black beans, drained and rinsed
3 Tbs vegetable oil
4 Tbs cocoa
1 tsp vanilla
3/4 c sugar
2 bananas (I used 1)
1/4 c applesauce (I used 1/8)
Preheat oven to 350. Put everything in a blender and blend until smooth. Pour into a lightly greased 8" baking pan. Bake for 30 min, or until a toothpick comes out clean (I did closer to 40).
If they're still too soft for your liking, they firm up if you put them in the fridge for a bit.
