85 Corn Palace Corner

The murals on the outside of the Corn Palace in Mitchell, South Dakota, are changed every year. Locally grown corn and native grasses are used to "paint" thematic murals, which are designed by a local artist using a "corn by number" method. Inside are permanent murals depicting various aspects of the lives and inhabitants of South Dakota. The 2010 murals will be replaced beginning in August when the materials have matured so they can be harvested.
