• Wikipedia - "Gold Hill is a steep cobbled street in the town of Shaftesbury in the English county of Dorset. It is famous for its picturesque appearance; the view looking down from the top of the street has been described as "one of the most romantic sights in England."[1] The image of this view appears on the covers of many books about Dorset and rural England, as well as on countless chocolate boxes and calendars.
Gold Hill has also been used as a setting for television commercials: it features in the 1973 "Boy on Bike" television advertisement for Hovis bread, that has been voted Britain's favourite advertisement of all time."

Gold Hill, 'Hovis Hill' Shaftesbury.

A travel shot, the token shot of Hovis Hill....Passing through the town of Shaftesbury you have to visit this and take a snap... Shaftesbury is a nice little place, bakery does great bacon bap as well.

It would have been perfect for an early morning or late evening, or an old boy going down on a 60s bicycle.... Couldn't not take one though, one for the records to look back on.

Great how the eye leads you into the picture with the roofs of the houses. The tones and colours of the buildings give you a real feel for the place and having the whole picture in focus gives you a real scence of depth

Great capture, not a place I've visited but all you need is a local pushing a bike up and down and charging 50p a shot...

I see what you mean about different times of day, but this is more than a snap! The perspective draws me in and contextualises it perfectly with the distant hills. Very enjoyable image Tom!
