Buttermere, The Lake District
Buttermere, a view embedded in the Lakeland visitors mind. On any day, in any weather, the first visit will stay with the admirer forever. The fell wanderer will at one point every month, thinks, Oh yes Buttermere.
No other place in Lakeland like Buttermere, a spectacular range on offer for the viewer, a spectacular range on offer for the wanderer.....
Today just the bottom but there is no disappointment in walking the lake circuit.... A deep, gloomy sky hangs, the fells shoulder mist as it passes their flanks..... The waters of Buttermere, dark and calm, an eerie silence falls on the fells, the wind drops, rain passes, a clearing in the skies and weather, stood here on the shingle outcrop at the centre of the waters edge.... A mighty Buttermere view, in any weather.
The ridge for me is one of the greatest walks to be had, if there is one walk i recommend to the able bodied it is the Buttermere ridge, a great day taking in Scale Force, Lingcomb Edge, Red Pike, High Stile, High Crag down to Scarth Gap and ending on Hay Stacks.... then a nice stroll on the shores of Buttermere & there it is on offer from right to left.
Buttermere, what more can be said......
The tight crop on the top and deep foreground is intentional.
