Coniston Water, The Lake District

Sitting above the town of Coniston one Sunday.... Early evening the breeze just cooling, the shadows off the trees and houses below draw their shapes on the ground.....

Here on Yew Pike, not many boots wander, the sheep even look in surprise at my existence up here.... Good for the sheep though with their trusty tracks through the peat and heather, without these my knees would be muddied and wet.

Coniston, a fabulous Lakeland area, famous to many, Walk the Old Man, visit Levers Water on a summers afternoon, mines and old ruins to investigate and wonder... and for the wanderers there are silent places, far from the crowds, only whispers of grass and the yawn of a sheep can heard here.... How long to sit......

A few days spent in Lakeland, I experienced the best of what the fells and the weather has to offer, low atmospheric cloud rolling off the Pikes, glorious sun and crystal views and hammering precipitation, all good stock for the photographers tool box...
