Grassguards Gill Falls, The Lake District
Grassguards Gill waterfalls, The Lake District
This treat of a falls is the most inaccessible, hard work, scrambling, nearly breaking bones, camera and spirit shot I have ever attempted. BUT you know when you see something in an old book and think I want that, well thats what I did. Old Wainwright might have walked down here but there hasn't been a sole here for decades. Fallen trees, washed away gorge side, leaving 10ft drops to knife edge rocks, Oh and the water isn't shallow either, 2 ft mostly lol.
And what a reward, this enchanted woods/gorge/waterfalls, the hail started pounding me as I was shooting, balancing with tripod not to soak the camera, ciggie still on my lip, 5 exposures, longest 30 seconds, I'm thinking i've only got one chance with this, the wife will think I plummeted to my doom, she's 1/2 mile back donw the gorge probably thinking when do I go and get help :) Sorry
Yes so I call this Grassguards falls, In the Wallowbarrow Gorge area, a tremendous shot I feel, Love it. And I maybe wrong but in this enormous world we call Flickr, this is the first post of the gem.
View on black, and why not tell me what you think and if you reckon you can do better, go and find it, shoot it and tell me your story.
Also, there is alot of detail/colour around the edges, if you can't see this I would suggest calibrating your monitor, I just noticed on my work PC, which is naff and it doesn't fully compliment the shot :)
No star spangled banners please :)
