Macy's Fireworks 2012

This is probably my favorite out of my batch of Fireworks. Our day started at 12:00pm, I had a particular spot in mind and when I got there no one took my spot. All of the photographers that I met last year at Hamilton Avenue was in the same location, I guess everyone had the same comp in mind. As I mentioned in my previous post, we all had our focus towards midtown Manhattan but when the fireworks stared, the action was south on the Hudson, WTF!... Everyone had to shift focus south or switch to a Zoom lens that showed more action. I switch to my 24-70mm and had to quickly focus to get some action. hopefully next year it's back towards Mid Town so I can get the Empire State Building into frame.

One of the really cool photographers named Philp did a really cool trick with the 5D MK III. The 5D MK III has a feature called multiple exposures, a trick that film guys did that burned multiple images into one frame. He used this feature and took an exposure of Midtown then his second exposure he took of the fireworks. It came out really cool when he showed me on the the back of his LCD. He actually did it last year with his film camera, and it was the first time I learned of this trick.

I hope everyone enjoyed their 4th of July!
