Yosemite's Mirror Lake today
Some time back I posted an image of Mirror Lake that was taken in the '60s. Due to the changes in management of the lake, we wondered if it had changed much. Unfortunately this shot is from a slightly differnt angle, but I have to say that in this high water year, the lake looks much the same as it did back in the '60s. Here's how it looks in winter.
While I was there, I learned that the dredging that used to be done was to provide a source of sand for use on icy winter roads. Dredging was discontinued about 1971. It was good to know that it had been done for a practical purpose.
