Fr. Paul Foulon
I'm very glad that I'm able to create photos of our beloved Fr. Paul during his visit to Vancouver. I'm posting this because he is a person that was instrumental to our alma mater. Also, in my own point of view he had a big impact to 2 communities/municipalities in the Philippines (Parañaque and Tala) where he served for over 50 years combined. He retired recently and is making his way back to his home country of Belgium. Events were held for him since Friday and this kept me busy and away from flickrland. More of who he is below.
Fr. Paul Foulon is a Roman Catholic Missionary Priest from Belgium. He belonged from the missionaries of the Congregatio Immaculati Cordis Mariae (CICM), otherwise known as the Congregation of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. He arrived in the Philippines in 1960 and was assigned as Assistant Parish Priest and also Assistant Principal of St. Andrew's School. In 1976 he assumed the position of full time Parish Priest and Director of St. Andrew's School. Late 1991 Fr. Paul was transferred to Maryhill School of Theology in New Manila, Quezon City. In 1994 he assumed the position of Parish Priest of Holy Rosary Parish in Tala, Kalookan City until he retired last month. During his stint in Tala he served in Tala Leprosarium - a leper colony in the city of Kalookan where he lived with a community of lepers and sick people. We compare him to Saint Damien of Molokai since he was also from Belgium and also served a leper colony in Molokai, Hawaii.
We will surely miss you Fr. Paul. You were an inspiration and you touched many lives in our home country. Maraming Salamat Po! (Thank you very much!)
