3.23.13 Peninsula Expressway Cleanup
On 3/23/13 “Friends of the Hard Yacht Café” and “Clean Bread and Cheese Creek” cleaned the section of the Peninsula Expressway between Merritt Boulevard and the Bear Creek Bridge. In four hours we removed 32 bags of trash, 25 bags of recycling, 11 tires, 10 gallons of used motor oil, 5 five gallon buckets, 2 kiddy pools, 2 shopping carts, a dresser, a bed frame, an air conditioner and much more!

The 25 bags of recycling were almost completely filled with plastic and glass beverage containers. If the bottle deposit bill passes I bet we would be likely to even pick up one bag of these items since they would now have a monetary value. Of course we pick up hundreds of plastic bags as well which the plastic bag bill would greatly diminish as well.

We would like to thank everyone who helped out today to keep this trash from washing into Bear Creek. Remember our next clean up is April 6th in Bread and Cheese Creek in the Willow Road Section. Hope to see you there!
