Summer backstreet cleanup with neighbors
Every year, there is a spontaneous cleaning spree of our backstreet. A few neighbors get out in the sun with their brooms, shovels and trash bags. They are soon joined by a few others. Then someone invariably comes out with a huge watermelon or pitcher of lemonade. It's all over in less than an hour, we get to chat with people we don't talk to often and meet new ones while keeping our children's environment safe.
The top of the broom stick was velcroed to a light stand so that I could angle it just right.
There is a single Nikon SB-900 zoomed to 200mm, in manual SU-4 mode, manual 1/64 going through a Honl 1/8" Speed Grid. It is boomed above the broom, just out of frame. It's triggered by the camera's built-in flash set to 1/128 power.
Nikon D300s, 200 ISO, f16, 1/60, 55-200mm zoom at 165mm, manual mode.
