      You might call this my back yard. I'm a National Park Ranger stationed at a 2 man Ranger Station on the SW end of Amygdaloid Is. which is the long one on the upper left side of your photo. The station would be just off the left edge of the photo. I patrol by boat through these waters most every day, and this is a beautiful photo from an angle I don't get to see. Thanks for posting it. Do you pilot one of the planes I often see fly over that look to be heading for Thunder Bay?

      cool, an idea of landing on the Isle Royale (not on a kind of plane I fly though :) possesses me whenever I pass overhead, especially at times when we approach to or take off from Thunder Bay - like it was at a moment taken on this picture. Fascinating landscape. Are those elongated rocky grooves left as traces of the last Ice Age?
