The Immortals

The final 5 images from Glasgow International, these 2 shots show the work of Folkert De Jong, exhibiting at the Glasgow School of Art

"Dutch artist Folkert de Jong made a new installation of figurative sculptures for the Mackintosh Museum, inspired by the figures of Charles Rennie Mackintosh and his wife Margaret MacDonald Mackintosh. The exhibition title ‘The Immortals’ refers to the name they gave to their peer group that included Herbert McNair and Margaret’s sister Frances.

Folkert de Jong is an artist who freely mixes up times, materials and cultural references, in his work. By re-considering the Mackintoshes as actors within this well-known architectural space, De Jong explored the ‘theatricality’ of the Museum. Folkert brings in a contemporary approach to figurative sculpture which also made lively connections with the Museum’s past function as the drawing studio, housing all the figurative classical plaster casts for students to learn from."

I absolutely loved this shot, it was one of my favourites from all the art work documentation I did, definitely worth following those 2 visitors on my hands and knees tying to get the perfect angle- they look quite far away from the camera but in reality they were only about 1m away.
