ARToon in Action
ARToon, a Claremont Museum of Art arts education project, gives voice to a generation of middle school students through the art of cartooning. Over forty El Roble Intermediate School students have participated in ARToon after-school classes under the tutelage of El Roble’s art teacher, Wendy Kubiak. Three professional cartoonists: Lalo Alcaraz, Anne Cleaves and Javier Hernandez taught students to develop their own original stories and signature characters. The program, directed by Lori Evans Lama, culminated with a public exhibition on March 22 and display on the Art Wall at the Packing House unveiled on April 12, 2013.
