Before the era of the Thalys hi speed trains, trains to Paris were made up of French passenger cars. OK, this is not my best slide, but it shows train D286 Amsterdam-Paris at the famous wind mill near Lisse. Note the catenary poles from 1927. Within a few years these would (finally) be replaced with new ones.
