    Neat old door. Maybe it is painted by time! I think you paint a dark colour, then put on a lighter colour and wipe some off with an old rag or dry brush. Debbie Travis would know!

    Yeh, I'd wipe. Sounds easier than sanding to reveal different layers. A wreath of big artificial flowers would really finish this off beautifully. I'm still trying to figure out why you don't like artificial.

    Sure, I like all kinds of flowers - real, artificial, plastic,paper, dried, dipped in gold, sugar, chocolate and on and on.

    Jane....I wonder if it is called "milk paint".......I've seen it on HGTV......when they paint as if trying to replicate colonial day colors and look.
