Vinnie & Natalie Cilurzo win 2017 BA Recognition Award (02)
"This year's winners operate a brewpub and production facility near the birthplace of craft brewing. The pub has become a community gathering place as well a beer tourism destination, attracting three-hundred thousand visitors annually. One of their beer releases has its own local economic impact statement. Demand for their beer is nearly insatiable, but they have put their focus on growing their business organically while focusing on efficiencies and quality. Not only are they contributors to the craft brewing industry, but they are tireless philanthropists supporting local, state, and national causes."
—Wynne Odell introducing the 2017 winners of the Brewers Association Recognition Award:
Vinnie and Natalie Cilurzo of Russian River Brewing —brewers of one of 'craft' beer's seminal IPAs, Pliny the Elder (and Younger).
"Twenty-three years ago, we bought our first piece of brewing equipment from a gentleman named Electric Dave. [...] If you had told us back then we would be receiving this award a couple of decades later, we would have shaken our heads in disbelief."
"Kind of feels like a lifetime achievement award. But we're actually just getting started."
