Cherries. Ciliegie var. "Ferrovia"

W&N watercolours on Fabriano paper (18 x 10 cm).

This variety was called Ferrovia (Railway) because in the 1935 the tree was found for a case near the the toll of the railway in the Apulian village of Sammichele di Bari. That tree was grown spontaneously from a stone and it wasn't an hybrid. After a time its cherries became famous because their delicious taste and their hard sweet flesh.
