Mexican Blouse Hidalgo

This blouse was displayed at the Museo de Arte Popular (MAP) in Mexico City as part of its exhibition of the popular arts of the state of Hidalgo. I do not know where in Hidalgo this was made (possibly the Valle Mezquital). The panels of smocking on the yoke and sleeves are very fine.

Wow, the details of the venado are wonderful. Beautiful work.

I think it was made in the region of the "Valle del Mezquital".

Thanks for all your nice comments. Thanks to kbito for this information. That would have been my guess. When I visited the MAP, they had completely sold out the catalog for the show, and I don't recall seeing any wall identification for this blouse. But, Mezquital Valley sounds right to me. Mil gracias

qué bonita...el diseño recuerda a una xilografía estampada en negro...siempre me encantan los motivos simplemente dibujados en negro...happy weekend Karen, very heavy rain here...

Hi Lola. I knew that you'd like this blouse. I'd love to have one just like it. I hope the rain stops for your weekend. There is a huge snow storm on the way here for tomorrow. Winter begins early.
