Mt Taylor Ranger District
The San Mateo and Zuni mountain ranges make up the approximately 250,00 acres that is the Mt Taylor Ranger District. Mt Taylor, the highest point in western New Mexico, is considered sacred to Native Americans. It is a composite volcano that erupted various times between about 4 million and 2 million years ago.
