CIAT's Gene Bank
Pics by Neil Palmer (CIAT). CIAT's gene bank at the institution's headquarters in Colombia contains one of the largest collection of beans, cassava and tropical forages in the world. These samples are conserved, studied and shared with other scientific research institutions seeking to adapt present-day food crops, to make them more resilient to challenges like drought and flooding. Several shipments of duplicated seeds are now stored at the Global Seed Vault in Svalbard, Norway. for more information contact
