Chalk drawing for Tamil Nadu new year

    Newer Older

Many designs were drawn before doorways today in Chennai. These are not drawn with a stick of chalk but rather poured carefully through the fingers.

These are also called as Rangoli, means colored patterns or rows.

Indeed. Thanks tas_veer. These aren't just for Tamil new year, but rather nearly every where in Chennai at door stops to houses, stores, temples and more. Mostly they're white, simple designs, but in temples they're often very colorful and sometimes more than just colored powder.
