Cormorant - on the dry cycle
It was a cold and bitter Sunday morning. My wife was very helpful and getting the little birds I wanted to photograph to come close. After we were through playing with the Buffelheads she reminded me that the Cormorants were out drying themselves in the breeze. So I quickly trained my lens on these guys.
This photo was taken with the Canon 40D, 100-400L mounted on a Bogen 3033/3057 tripod. I triggered the shutter on a two second delay. This allowed enough time for any tremors in the rig to settle down and dampen prior to the shutter firing. At 100% (3888x25xx pixels) this image is very nice and sharp.
