      Is this the same building? There was a Walgreen's Drug behind the building in the newer photo from the 40s through the 70s or so. It recently re-opened in the same location.

      Friday Evening trip into NYC for some photos.

      It is indeed the same building, just reconditioned.

      I believe the Walgreens was on the South corner of the Bond's Clothing building for a number of years. I don't think it lasted into the 70s. It would have been out of the frame here and you would have to turn 90 degrees to have seen it. Behind (South ) of the NYPD building is the Times Tower, which is STILL on the same 1900s armature. It had been refaced in the 60s but is now covered in ads... Those bare surfaces are valuable "real estate" in this area of NYC.

      I was at Times Square yesterday and paid a visit to the old Info Center. I was surprised to see that the original mosaic artwork is still there! Unfortunately, it's not being very well maintained. I can't help but wonder who the artist was who created it... You can see the artwork on the far right side of the postcard.
