As I mentioned in the heron shot, I'd been standing at the edge of Sunfish Pond, waiting for the elusive belted kingfisher to show. He remained out of range or completely out of the area, and in the meantime I noticed this particular dragonfly buzzing by repeatedly overhead... back and forth... back and forth.... back and forth..... Over and over again, it passed overhead. I decided to try a hand at capturing an in-flight, from-beneath shot of it, and I met with some success, I think. It sure helped pass the time until I heard the rustling of the heron's wings.
Oh, and I think it's a common whitetail (female), in my inexpert opinion.
