why so glum, chum?
This little guy sat at the edge of the hiking path in the east side of the Morton Arboretum, and I frankly have no idea how I spotted him rather than step on him. Call it luck, for both of us. He got to keep his young life with so many interesting times ahead of him, and I got to get on the ground and get some toad's-eye-view shots of him. Win/win!
Actually, it was a win/win/win, because a family of four soon came down the path, and I pointed out the toad to the little girl, and she delightfully took a closer look at him. But when her father suggested she kiss the toad to turn him into a prince, she steadfastly refused. Such is the glamor of a toad; loved one second and reviled the next. View On Black
