National Bank of New Zealand, corner Hereford & Manchester Streets
Original Caption with the submitted photo:
"This scene was photographed inside a Christchurch Bank (Hereford St?) by my Father. Notice the following points of interest.
- Portrait of the Queen handing above octagonal date indicator on wall.
- Elaborate and substantial timer counters and customer desks.
- Notice to customers (partly obscured). Wording appears to be “cashed cheques customers are requested to have their cheques (marked by) the ledgers before (taking to) tellers for (encashment)”. These were the days of book-keeping machines or before!"
