43 years ago I married my wife at 11.00am on the 11th November, a service which began with a 2 minute silence, our 'in' joke was that that was the only 2 minutes silence I had in all the years we were married. At the time, my wife was 17, and I'm not ashamed to say it was what was known as a 'shotgun wedding'. We were both from a small village, where everyone knew everyone else, so that fact was never a secret. Mostly, local people gave us no more than 12 months together before it ended. After 38 years together, the one thing that everyone said would happen did happen, but not in the way they predicted. My wife left me when she passed away in January 2017, and these rings along with a couple of other items of jewellery and my memories keep us close together.
