The Riptide Movement, Christmas Eve Busk, Grafton Street, Dublin

"What About the Tip Jars?" is the debut album of Dublin band, The Riptide Movement. This was the first time I had heard or seen them, and I am quite certain we will be hearing a lot more. I bought their album and only got a chance to listen to it today. It is absolutely superb. I rarely sit down for long enough to listen to a whole album, but I was glued to my seat as one excellent track after another belted out of my speakers, I couldn't help turning the volume up and tapping my feet. This music will make your body move and you might even get out the air guitar. It reminds me of the Beatles, Jimmy Hendrix and the Doors, with a sprinkling of the Thrills, but with all of these overtones, it is distinctly original and has a quality that sets it apart from the masses of me too, generic bands. It brings me back in time but at the same time has a contemporary and modern feel. When I buy my red Ferrari, this album is going to be in the CD player.
