The road trip continues and today Barry Blanchard and I met up with J. Rae Chip to hang out and shoot some sites around the Salton Sea.
My favorite place there by far was this art instalation that Thomas Hawk recommended, Salvation Mountain. It is made from adobe, straw, and thousands of gallons of paint and is covered by religious quotes and drawings. The artist who created it has been placed at long term care at 80, but local volunteers do their best to maintain it, for now. And as you enter a sign asks you to donate your paint.
I spend over an hour taking hundreds of photos here and walking around this installation, and was blown away by the dedication and colorful creations. Just couldn't get enough from this surreal place.
