The Shelter

    Newer Older

I'm not really sure what the point of this thing is. Maybe someone forgot to put the walls up?

This is an HDR from 3 exposures (-2, 0, +2). Had heaps of problem with noise in this shot so I had to do a lot of clean up in Photoshop.

    Taken at Ambury Park, Auckland.

Noise?! I don't see any! How did you get rid of it all?
Great choice of HDR here, the clarity of the grass and the light on it from front to back just makes the shot for me.
Maybe the shelter is for your sheep stalkers to hide in ;)

Got rid of the noise by applying a Gaussian blur on a new layer, then hand painting the layer mask to only show the sky in that layer. Pain the ass!

You got me thinking about the sheep - I wonder if there were a bunch of them waiting inside to ambush me? Lucky I didn't get too close... :)

Nice composition, this is one of my fav spots around Auckland and I go there often. Anyone would think it's in the middle of nowhere, but it's not.

The structure is simply a sheltered eating spot located along the Manukau foreshore walking track which starts at Ambury farm (this shot) and follows the Manukau harbour all the way around past the stonefields and ends near the airport. All up it's about 12Ks I think.

      Lovely, lovely.

This is really nice, and the treatment is perfect.
Seen at Interface Lift, nice to see a flickr profile as well (which I'm more used to anyways).

      Hi Chris.

I have to ask....what lens are you using for your landscape images? I love the depth of field and scope of image :) Hamish. Auckland.

It's probably a hay barn. Sometimes they don't have sides 'cause the hay needs a bit of ventilation...

This has become one of the most popular landscape HDR photos on the web... Great job!
