1938 Unit 008 Arrives at Ryde Pier

The Island Line has been using for London Underground tube trains since the 60's.

The current trains date from 1938 and were shipped over in the 80's.

The question has been asked many times about why the trains haven't been replaced by more modern undergrund stock, well the answer is the corrosion factor.

Due to the high corrosion due to running over the pier the more modern aluminium trains would corrode quicker than the old steel bodied stock.
