L.Y. Schermerhorn House (1869)
This residence located in historic Riverside, IL is historically and architecturally significant as it is one of the oldest surviving structures in the village. It was designed by the prominent Chicago architect William LeBaron Jenney, who was the "Father of the Skyscraper". The first resident was a partner in Jenney's architecture and engineering firm, who were employed to implement Olmsted's General Plan of Riverside, the first ever suburb. The house is identified as an Illinois Historic Structure as well as a Riverside landmark.
