A photographer and his pets
A Flickr album to celebrate George Haswell, Edwardian photographer and stonemason, and the animals he immortalised in his work. Haswell (1862 – 1938) was based in Chester and founded Haswell and Son, Architectural and Ecclesiastical Craftsmen. As well as writing articles for the Journal of Chester Archaeological Society (JCAS), Haswell was a keen amateur photographer, snapping images of Chester, family outings to Cheshire and North Wales, individuals, pets, country houses and sculptures. Cheshire Archives and Local Studies is home to nearly 500 Haswell photographs and postcards, dating to the turn of the 20th century (ref: 230599). An index of these images is available, so please get in touch with Cheshire Record Office for more details.
