SIGN OF THE TIMES 8: Mr. Peanut Doesn't Live Here Anymore

    Prev Next

Wilkes-Barre ousted Mr. Peanut and said that they were putting up a strip mall....years later, that didn't happen either, and the site STILL remains vacant!

Right now Wilkes-Barre is faced with losing another valuable historical landmark to the "Politics of Finance"---The Hotel Sterling. We need community support to stop the destruction of our history yet again......

You can join grassroots efforts to save this landmark at “Save the Hotel Sterling, Wilkes-Barre, PA” page on Facebook:!/pages/Save-t...

You can sign the Save the Sterling petition at:
(Please note that a window will come up asking for a donation once you sign the petition….THAT REQUEST IS NOT FOR THE HOTEL STERLING but for the ipetitions site itself. A donation is not required for your signature to be recorded on the Save The Sterling petition.)

BryanQuigley, SCOTTS WORLD, and 3 other people added this photo to their favorites.

of all the things that have changed in Wilkes-Barre since I grew up there, the Planters building has looked just like this pic since the 70's. My paternal grandma's house was a short walk from this building.

This is one bleak stretch of land! I remeber when little Mr. Peanuts topped the iron fence here. "But you don't know what you got 'til it's gone..."
