I Have Lost My Best Friend
It is done. Gino is gone.
Yesterday I discovered that every time I loved on him I found another mass I hadn't felt the day before. His breathing was labored and neither one of us slept last night. I know he was in pain.
When we bring them into our lives we enter into a covenant to provide them with food, shelter and loving care. Part of that care is preventing them from needless suffering and, no matter how much we hate to part with them, we must be mindful of their needs instead of our own.
His ancestors guarded the camps of the Roman Legions - and he was my friend.
Rest in Peace my brave noble Gino. I will meet you at the Rainbow Bridge.
