Drop in a Dime

A little pause from Paraty photos... testing a laser trigger that I plan to use togheter with sound trigger in a new setup I'm working on.

The coin is a US 10 cents of dollar, aka "dime".

3 flashes used on this photo, 430EX, MR14-EX and Sunpak 383, all triggered by Cactus connected to a laser trigger.

The 40d remote live view shooting from computer is awesome, helped a lot.

Hi Ayes-hero. I don't know what you've aleady tried, what equipment you have... so I will start with some beginner tips:

      - these photos are done in a dark room
      - pre-focus with the room lights on, then lock the focus in manual
      - camera in long exposure
      - use an external flash, very close to the drop, fire it manually

Basically, with room lights off, even with a 5s exposure, the camera will capture only the light from the flash. You will use the flash to freeze the moment, not the camera shutter.

Let me know the results :)
