Sailin' Down The Bay

Baker's Coconut Cut-Up Cakes, 1956

  • Dania Hurley 7y

Oh, that's coconut. I wondered why they'd put fuzz on some kind on a cake. Also, is this a Communist cake? What's with the flag?
  • Brian Aslak 7y

    Maybe it's Turkish Delight!
  • Charm and Poise 7y

Dania: Yes, all these cakes are topped with delicious coconut! I'm not sure about the flag -- a Turkish crew sending a distress signal?

Brian: Or Un-delight! Save this ship, perhaps?
  • Dania Hurley 7y

Ah, a Turkey flag! Well, that makes more sense, then.

Love the little Life Saver portholes!
  • Charm and Poise 7y

Dania: Maybe Baker's coconut had some kind of political message for it's Turkish patrons?

    Jan: Me too! Too cute!
  • Dubris 7y

Boats with sheepskin-effect sails? Whatever next?
  • Charm and Poise 7y

I'm not sure, Dubris! Once you've done such advanced sails, it seems many other cake decorating attempts would be sorely lacking!
