Woman’s two-piece brown wool tweed dress, c. 1895

Ornamented with brown braid, the bodice has huge leg-of-mutton sleeves, popular in the 1890s. The smooth, gored skirt was favored by the modern woman, making activity – both at work and at play – easier. The dress has a blue silk lining.

Gift of Col. & Mrs. George B. Buell in 1980
