Razan al-Najjar Garden
Combatants for Peace activists started the work on a new children playground in the village of Jib al-Theeb, east of Bethlehem. They called it Razan al-Najjar Garden. Al Najjar is a Palestinian nurse that was killed by the Israeli army as she was helping injured civilians during the weekly protest at the Gaza borders.
The playground is being built behind a local elementary school, a school which is under threat of demolition.
The land on which the park is being erected is a donation from Mr. Nayef Zawahrah, who aims to create a safe space for the school children and the town in general. The school was demolished last year and was recently rebuilt by local activists and the people of the village.
Mr. Nayef Zawahra's house is located near the school and is under constant attacks by the settlers. Our activists installed iron bars on house windows to protect him and his family from these attacks and to support his steadfastness in his land and home.
