CP-140 Aurora, dirty pass

A CP-140 Aurora maritime patrol aircraft (tail number 140113) executing a dirty pass. A "dirty pass" is one where the aircraft configures itself for landing and flies with the flaps and landing gear extended.

This aircraft is from 407 Maritime Patrol Squadron, a component of 19 Wing (Comox, BC). It was originally delivered to the CF on July 14th, 1980, and initially based at CFB Greenwood, NS.

Current plans call for the CF to replace the Aurora with a more modern ASW patrol aircraft in the near future. In practical terms this means the CF will issue a spec for a new aircraft, vendors will produce a conceptual aircraft to meet the spec, and the government of the day will avoid funding any replacement for at least two generations.
