Tongua feeding

Tongua, a Siberian [Amur] tiger (Panthera tigris altaica) enoying a morning snack. At the time this photo was taken (August 2006), Tongua was thirteen years old. The life span of a Siberian tiger is approximately 15 years in the wild, or 20 years in captivity.

It is actually a frozen meatsicle, and it is frozen to help a) cool him down in the summer months and b) provide some variety and a challenge to consumption, as a non-frozen side of meat will get wolfed down quickly.
