Grévy's zebra mare and foal

Grévy's zebra (Equus grevyi) mother and foal. The Grévy zebras can be distinguished from the more common Plains zebra (Equus quagga) by their close-set stripes.

They are named for a former President of France, Jules Grévy, who, in the 1880s, was given one of the species as a gift from the government of Abyssinia.
