My Desktop ::Version 1.2::

Newer Older

Version 1.2 of my desktop setup on the iMac. Partial inspired by the Shelves theme for the iPhone and the desire to get away from using an 'ordinary' desktop. Added a few personal touches such as the personal photos and the notes on the pinboard, as well as my own logo on the wallpaper.

For this version, I installed GeekTool to create a more dynamic What's On! notice, as well as for the calendar showing today's date. You will also notice the lack of the dock as I hardly use it anymore since I launch everything via QuickSilver or Spotlight.

And do let me know if this desktop has inspired you to set up your own desktop in a similar fashion. Would definitely love to see it.

Version 1.1 can be seen here.
Version 1.0 can be seen here.

The Art Toys and The Vinyl Collection icons can be downloaded from Pixelgirl Presents.

The stereo displaying what song is currently playing in iTunes was achieved using the Bowtie desktop application. Be sure to download the Theme Starter Pack as well as this includes the Geeky theme that was used.

The What's On! notice and the calendar showing today's date were achieved using the GeekTool app.

    Awesome desktop!!
Where did you get the stereo?

  2. santoscreative 69 months ago | reply

    Thanks for the comments! ^_^

The stereo is actually a Panasonic SC-SX950-K. Made a few changes to it though so that it has enough room to display the current song hehe.

And Bowtie is the desktop application I've used to get it to display the information.

I love this desktop! Mine is fairly similar but I am adding a few extras after seeing this :)

I would really like to know where I can get the table for the stereo and the TV screen? Thanks :)

Cheers for the comments and favourites! Very much appreciated. ^_^

For those who asked about the cabinet that the stereo sits on, I honestly can't remember where I originally got it from as I had it among a bunch of files that I collected over the years. If you happen to know the original source, let me know so I can give proper credits. In the meantime, you can download it here:

    Cabinet (Unknown Author)

And the television was grabbed from the Sony website but I've decided to upload a PSD file that you can all use. I've included all the layers and effects so that you can modify it to your liking:

    Television (Original)

Meghann: Thanks! And I would really like to see this desktop of yours. ^_^

I have a dual monitor array with my Macbook Pro, and used this format as a massive springboard for my own setup. Ideas for improvement are greatly appreciated, and requests the images, geeklets, etc. are welcome.

I made a similar desktop, which you can find on deviantart here: adrusi.deviantart.com/art/Desktop-Room-163644654. Although the theme is very similar, only the cabinet and TV are from your desktop, the shelves are also made from the tops of the cabinets :). the floor is a texture from google sketchup and the wall paper is based on www.flickr.com/photos/12572429@N02/4555608025/ which is another deriv of this desktop.
