Spirit of the Lotus
Once, many years ago, a woman I worked for received roses from here husband that were so deep a red color that they almost looked black. They were the most beautiful flowers I think I've ever seen! Since then, I've looked but never found that color rose again.
As I played around with yet another version of a water lily, I inverted it, and as I adjusted the colors, this deep, rich red popped out! It is still a shade lighter than the rose the woman had, but it's close enough. The memory came flooding back to me.
Isn't it funny how flowers can affect a person? Most every woman loves receiving flowers from a man, but it's not just the recipient who gets to enjoy them, but all those around her! I still enjoy the memory of that perfect, dark rose, though it wasn't mine. This flower- this photo- I can keep, and though it will never have the scent of a rose, will never fade, and never wither. Isn't photography wonderful?!
