JUPITER 23.02.16 @23.28UT

Jupiter imaged on the evening of the 23.02.16. In relatively poor seeing. Atmospheric waves were washing over the image, making capture difficult.

In this shot the Great Red Spot (GRS) - which is very red this season as well as being smaller - is heading towards the right limb of the planet and completing its transit. The North Equatorial Belt (NEB) - very active as usual - has a large white, oval spot on its northern edge.

The trail of cyclonic disturbance following the GRS is visible in the South Equatorial Belt (SEB) and some detail is visible within the GRS itself. The dark "eyebrow" above the GRS and trailing off towards the right limb is also visible.
